Website Statistics give a Value Insight
Ever been surfing around the web and landed on an unfamiliar website that looks interesting, but have to run to an appointment? Is it worth bookmarking?
There is a free online service available for installation in most Browsers that monitors traffic on the web and presents Rankings for each website to help you decide. Alexa (an Amazon.com company) primarily shows a numeric Global Rank based on the average daily visits -and- page views to the website over the most recent 3-month period. A single top Country Rank may also be presented. The Global Rank is also shown in Google Search Engine Results Page listings, helping you select websites that have …
- been established more than 3-months
- measurable traffic indicating relative Popularity
- several Popular Pages indicating Authority
Alexa Global Ranks being included in the SERP listings are VERY helpful. 😛
An additional statistic, called Reputation, is shown by the Browser Toolbar or Add-on. It initially simply shows the number of other websites that link to the website, but clicking on that number will display a list of the links for indepth analysis. This factor CAN be GREATLY DISTORTED by the website manager PURCHASING Backlinks. Websites with little Traffic Rank but a large number of backlinks are probably using deceptive techniques to attract traffic, and therefore arouse my skeptical suspicion because (legitimate) Organic backlinks are created by a small portion of their traffic (visitors) publishing their URL(s). The Top 100,000 Global traffic Rank Websites …
Many more statistics are estimated by analysis of logged-in Registered Users browsing and then presented for the top 100,000 Alexa Global Rank websites. Alexa extrapolates known data from logged-in users to adapt the larger general traffic statistics. This extensive information is accessed by clicking successive nested links.
You can help the Global browsing community get more accurate information from Alexa by Registering with Alexa -and most important- being logged-in while surfing or browsing. I suggest you log-out before doing personal or sensitive work online.
Highly recommended for website traffic insight, including your own website(s). 😉
